The SS-86 SwP is a replacement transmitter compatible with all Ditch Witch SubSite 750 and SubSite 752 locating systems. Operating at 29 kHz, it features a switchable power mode that extends working depth from 22 m to 25 m on demand — without any tools or battery changes.
Standard mode operates identically to the SS-86: depth up to 22 m and 150 hours of battery life with lithium batteries. High-power mode increases depth to 25 m with a runtime of 75 hours. The mode resets to standard automatically after each battery replacement.
How to activate high-power mode:
- Hold the active sonde upside down for 7 seconds
- Lower it right-side up for 7 seconds
- Raise it upside down again for 7 seconds
After switching, verify the increased signal level on the locator, then perform the standard calibration procedure. After replacing batteries, the sonde returns to standard power — repeat the sequence to re-activate high-power mode. No recalibration needed.
Inclination accuracy ±0.1% makes the SS-86 SwP ideal for gravity-flow installations such as sewer and storm drain pipelines where precise grade control is essential.
